Refreshed after our swimming the night before we cycled down the hill into Riva del Garda. First stop as usual was for a coffee, we found a nice spot with a view of the lake where we could also watch the ducks and their ducklings. One duck had four various coloured ducklings including a spotty one, but another mom had twelve! They can’t all be hers can they?
After coffee we explored the old town and admired the view of the mountains.
As the day was heating up we decided to take a pedalo out onto Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. We had a great time pedalling about and getting a different perspective of Riva.
We then treated ourselves to lunch by the lake. We don’t normally have a full lunch in cafes or restaurants so we had a beer and a limoncello spritz and followed lunch with a gelato. As were really full we then cycled slowly back up the hill to the campsite and cooled off in the pool again.
As it was a really warm evening we sat outside the van until quite late and we were treated to a firefly floating past, slowly blinking as it went. There were also lots of bats flying over head and the Santa Barbara Church lit up on the hillside above the lake.
As we we loved the campsite so much we stayed two nights. It was everything I like in a site, very modern with private pitches and the pool, jacuzzi and sauna were a added bonus!
The next morning we went back into Riva del Garda for a coffee and cake and another wander before setting off to our next destination.
